Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Members of Parliament (MPs) have adopted and passed a supplementary budget of around E47 million.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was during a sitting at the House of Assembly where Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg tabled the Supplementary Appropriation Bill No. 2 of 2023 whose purpose was to seek the approval of a sum of money not exceeding E47 923 328.<\/p>\n

According to the Bill, the budget requirements for the services of the Government of Eswatini during the financial year ending March 31, 2023.<\/p>\n

When motivating the Bill to be passed, the minister explained that his ministry had consulted with all budget committees.<\/p>\n

He admitted that even though the figure was high, it was a small increase to the initial budget allocated for the financial year that ends on March 31, 2023.<\/p>\n

He listed various sectors which will be accommodated in the Supplementary Budget. According to the minister, Parliament is among the departments to be accommodated and this has been necessitated by extra costs on travel and the recent State Opening.<\/p>\n

As expected, the cost-of-living adjustment (CoLA) implemented last year has also been listed as one of the items that will be accommodated.<\/p>\n
