Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Senior Superintendent Clement Sihlongonyane has been instructed to investigate the whereabouts of one Elmon Mavuso, an alleged South African businessman believed to be one of the funders of the struggle for democracy in eSwatini.<\/b><\/p>\n

This is contained in a notebook for King Mswati\u2019s highest investigating unit, which is investigating members of the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces (SISF).The information in the notebook was leaked by one of the senior investigators to this investigative journalist.<\/p>\n

The note book further disclosed that one Mlungisi Makhanya referred to as \u2018Bishop\u2019 is being investigated for heading operations in Swaziland.<\/p>\n

“Mnisi named Thabo Kunene Commander and Mlungisi Makhanya (Bishop) head of operations in Swaziland. Source of funds: Bheki Mabuza, Sabelo Mngometulu, and Elmon Mavuso, South African 94020….Trucking businesses.No record at immigration; Sihlongonyane to investigate,”reads part of the notes in the Chief Investigators notebook in possession of prss.<\/p>\n

The notebook contains, among others,minutes and or notes of a briefing meeting by King Mswati\u2019s highest investigation unit; the meeting was held on the 30th March 2023.<\/p>\n

A questionnaire was sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati,the Police Spokesperson,however,she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.<\/p>\n

Both Mlungisi Makhanya and Bheki Mabuza were not reached for comments at the time of compiling this report.<\/p>\n

Reached for comments, Elmon Mavuso, the South African businessman, said he was surprised to see his name and identity (ID) number on police investigation note books.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s true I have relatives in eSwatini, but I don\u2019t visit that country frequently.I don\u2019t understand why my name is featured in the investigation notebook you just showed me, but I will follow up on this matter,\u201dsaid the businessman.<\/p>\n
