Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Thulani Gwebu,a police officer based at Pigg\u2019s Peak Police Station who was allegedly involved in the shooting and killing of innocent civilians during the political unrest,has launched an election campaign.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking during the presentation of tournament prizes to football teams at Nkhaba Sports Ground on Friday,the police officer declared that he wants to be an MP under Nkhaba Inkhundla.<\/p>\n

The member of the law enforcement agency sponsored the tournament with five thousand Rands(R5000).<\/p>\n

\u201cNingive kahle,asisho kwanyalo kutsi hamba uyokhetsa Gwebu,hamba uyokhetsa bani. Mine ngitonibikela nje kutsi ngikhona kulolukhetfo lwalonyaka. Loko noma ungaku-recorder noma ungakubhala phansi kuphi, ngiyakusho without fear, kulolukhetfo lwalonyaka ngikhona(meaning: Listen very carefully, I am not saying vote for Gwebu or someone else but, what I am saying is that I am available and will stand for elections this year,\u201d said the police officer.<\/p>\n

A questionnaire was sent to Prince Mhlabuhlangene, the Elections Commission Chairman, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.<\/p>\n

It is alleged that Gwebu was among the police officers who invaded and terrorized residents around Malanti area during the unrest.<\/p>\n

Some of the residents allegedly grabbed a gun from the officers who had come to attack them for protesting in demand for democracy.<\/p>\n
