Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>King Mswati\u2019s Spokesperson Percy Simelane says the United States (US) has \u2018blood on the hands\u2019 after the assassination of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and as a result, cannot condemn or claim there are human rights violations in the Kingdom of eSwatini.<\/b><\/p>\n

King Mswati, an absolute Monarch with Executive, Judicial and Legislative powers stands accused of unleashing soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians, including human rights defenders, merely for demanding democratic reforms.<\/p>\n

Responding to a questionnaire on Saturday morning shortly after Senator Christopher Coons, the US Congress Chairperson on Foreign Relations tabled a resolution condemning human rights violations in the Kingdom of eSwatini and seeking targeted sanctions, the King\u2019s Spokesperson said they will wait for evidence liking the King in this regard.<\/p>\n

The King\u2019s Spokesperson further accused the United States(US) of violating human rights during the era of the slave trade and openly unleashing security officers to shoot and kill innocent black citizens like deer.<\/p>\n

“We shall wait for evidence linking the King to the human rights violations in question. We will also continue to wonder how anyone from a country that openly and primitively violated human rights for 244 years during the Slave Trade and had law enforcement agents who shot its own black citizens like deers on the streets comes to think he is a god of righteousness in this regard. We will continue to believe that citizens of countries that are signatories to the Caroline Constitution of 1669, that gave a green light to Slave Trade should be the last to squeal about Human Rights violations anywhere in the world. The tendency for the West to act on information meant for cheap audiences on Eswatini will continue to be a cause for concern. The world is still shambling from the Libyan Leader Muammar Qadaffi’s assassination linked to human rights violations, which was later pronounced a mistake by the country that orchestrated it,” said the King\u2019s Spokesperson.<\/p>\n

On another note,Senator Christopher Coons, who tabled the resolution at the US Congress, accused Mswati of refusing to participate in a political dialogue but continued with a crackdown on dissenting views.<\/p>\n

“Whereas reports indicate that the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini has contracted with international security companies to train government security forces to respond to violence in the country, resulting in increased intimidation against dissenting voices,”reads the resolution in part.<\/p>\n
