Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini says Parliamentarians are better positioned to lead in coming up with relevant legislations to address economic challenges faced by Africa and the Arab World.<\/b><\/p>\n

He was speaking during the official opening of the 10th Retreat of the Association of Senates, Shoora and Equivalent Councils of Africa and the Arab World (ASSECAA) where about 20 countries are represented at the Retreat.<\/p>\n

He said it is also encouraging to note that the discussions are relevant to the current global challenges that have negatively affected almost all countries\u2019 economies.<\/p>\n

He said, as the programme reflected, the two thematic areas: \u2018the impact of the multifaceted international crises on the economies of Africa and the Arab world\u2019, and \u2018the significance of the green economy in achieving sustainable development in Africa and the Arab world\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are also well positioned to advance organized cooperation and strategies that will bring solutions to common challenges. The retreat came at an opportune time where we need to share experiences and strategies and come up with practical steps on how we continue to collaborate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In addition, he said as they think about how to overcome these challenges and attain their development goals, the need to rebuild better and faster cannot be overemphasized.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage you, as you refresh and revitalize, to find impactful ways of serving our people. It will be important to strike a balance between environmental integrity and development. Greening our economies and building climate resilience is long overdue,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Honorable Prime Minister said they were also positive that the Russian-Ukrainian war will come to an end. However, the climate change challenge presents itself as long-term. They, therefore, need to put all their efforts towards this threat, which continues to affect economic activity across the globe.<\/p>\n
