Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>A motion that is set to change the gambling sector in the Kingdom of Eswatini is set to be moved in Parliament.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a Notice Paper issued by Parliament, there is a plan to move a motion calling for the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs to consult with his counterpart at the Ministry of Finance to effect a two per cent administrative charge on gaming operators.<\/p>\n

The two per cent administrative charge, according to the Notice Paper, will be paid over and above the already existing 15 per cent gaming levy.<\/p>\n

The aim, according to the motion, is to ensure that the Gaming Board of Control reduces reliance on the government for its day-to-day operations, and improves efficiency, as is the norm in similar bodies in the region and beyond.<\/p>\n

The motion is expected to be moved by Lobamba Lomdzala MP Marwick Khumalo who will be seconded by Ndzingeni MP Lutfo Dlamini.<\/p>\n

Currently, the gaming industry in Eswatini comprises online platforms as well as others such as Pigg\u2019s Peak Casino, Nhlangano Casino Royale, and Royal Swazi Casino.<\/p>\n

These casinos have different product offerings such as table games, blackjack, American roulette, and poker which often attract tourist gamers to the Kingdom.<\/p>\n

In March 2022, the Kingdom of Eswatini made a giant step forward in making the environment more responsible for players. This was when the new Eswatini Gaming Control Board was launched, aiming to establish firm principles based on which the sector will be governed.<\/p>\n

The Board will be in office for three years, aiming to upgrade the current regulatory framework. The gaming sector is structured in such a way that every online casino which sticks to itself should have a well-equipped responsible gambling page with deposit limits, loss limits, and similar tools which allow consumers to organise their spending.<\/p>\n

Also, some operators offer a reality check, so that consumers can keep track of the time they spend playing games.<\/p>\n
