Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>With more than two years of planning, Bidii Yetu began its 3 000 kilometres journey across Southern Africa \u2013 completing 2 100km to get to Eswatini yesterday.<\/b><\/p>\n

A team of five cyclists, two hand cyclists and three able-bodied cyclists started in Swakopmund, Namibia at the Atlantic Ocean on May 12. The Bidii Yetu team is averaging about 80 kilometers a day, a pace that lets them observe giraffes, an Elrond herd, ostriches, baboons and wildflowers along the way. The journey has traversed the huge Kalahari Desert, Botswana, South Africa to arrive at the Kingdom of Eswatini. They did this in nearly a month as they started the journey on May 18.At about 11:45am they crossed at Sandlane Border Post and shared some few pictures after arriving in Eswatini. Local cyclists and para-cyclists are riding with the team as it passes through each country.<\/p>\n

The five-team cyclists said they were excited to connect with Eswatini riders soon. The team plans to stay over in Manzini until tomorrow and welcome opportunities to meet with local organisations supporting people with disabilities, and local cycling clubs.When asked about their objective, they said they wanted to demonstrate what people with disabilities could achieve, once barriers to their impairment were lifted. They said other objectives included generating awareness of the poverty cycle in which millions of people with disabilities were trapped.<\/p>\n

They also highlighted that they wanted to raise funds and equipment for organisations of people with disabilities in the countries on their route.<\/p>\n
