Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Mbabane Highlanders Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe awaits a decision to be a partner or director of a newly-promoted South African side.<\/b><\/p>\n

It is only last week that one local daily reported the Highlanders MD based in Pretoria, South Africa (SA) was bidding to buy about 70 per cent stake at Polokwane City Rovers or take the entire team for a reported E10m fee. Following up to that, it has transpired Kgomongwe\u2019s leadership of Highlanders has attracted interest from not only Polokwane but Orbit College FC as well. The latter are based in Pretoria as well and have made an informal approach to Kgomongwe after winning promotion to the National First Division (NFD) as champions in their stream, taking home slightly more than E1.3 million, which is more than the country\u2019s top flight champions get in the MTN Premier League.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m confused now because after reports I\u2019m interested in an NFD team here in SA, I got called by Orbit College FC and they also believe I am the man to lead them to the Premiership,\u201d Kgomongwe responded when called and questioned about the latest. He said while he was honoured and interested in the NFD, it would not affect Highlanders but help as exceptional players would have the chance to migrate to grow their careers in South Africa.\u201cIt\u2019s still quite early to say much but yes Orbit did approach me to join them. Personally I have a dream to produce internationals for Eswatini so if any of the possibilities for a team in the NFD come to fruition, it\u2019s good for Highlanders and all exceptional players in Eswatini,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

One Orbit College official recognised as Pogiso diplomatically confirmed the news.\u201cWe have known Mr Ally from a long time back and we have always been close. \u201cWe are busy with the management now so he will be the first person to consider when we go out for partnership, but I will let you know once the decision is taken,\u201d he responded.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Kgomongwe anticipates returning to Eswatini early next month to resume preparations for next season with Highlanders, who may have to play and defend the preseason Bible Society Cup they won last year. He is also interested in signing winger Justice \u2018Figa\u2019 Figuareido after Cape Town All Stars got sold he cannot return next season. \u2018Figa\u2019 has said his agent would direct him as he could get another offer to play in the neighbouring country.<\/p>\n
