Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>This was the response from Lend a Hand Charitable Foundation Breakfast Club Director Khaya Matsebula when explaining why they started the initiative.<\/b><\/p>\n

Matsebula was responding today after the organisation fed 105 students breakfast this morning at the University of Eswatini\u2019s Luyengo campus.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday went very well, as we were able to serve 105 students. The initiative is being well received, so we appreciate that. We do wish to see more support for this initiative as we currently deliver based on the limited support we get from individuals. We are hoping that as we continue, organisational stakeholders, like Premier who produce bread, will become involved,\u201d explained Matsebula.<\/p>\n

Speaking on why they started the initiative, Matsebula expanded that they were hoping to cushion the rise in cost of living for students by alleviating some of the food insecurity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hear of cases of depression and suicides and we don\u2019t know how much the issue of food insecurity contributes to that. Nonetheless, we wanted to help alleviate it for students by providing free breakfast when we can,\u201d said Matsebula.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also wanted to give people a platform to serve God by helping others. That is one of the primary reasons why we started this initiative,\u201d added Matsebula.<\/p>\n

The Lend a Hand Foundation was founded in 2018, and their most recent breakfast for students was last week Friday where they fed over 250 students.<\/p>\n
