Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>After losing the National First Division ( NFD) promotion, Sidwashini United will now face serious repercussions from the Hhohho Regional Football Association Disciplinary Commitee for the ugly scenes of violence that erupted on Saturday at Mavuso Sports Centre.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Mbabane-based outfit players allegedly assaulted FIFA accredited assistant referee Zamani Simelane while referee Thembinkosi Dlamini ran for dear life after the sound of the final whistle whereby Pigg\u2019s Peak Rangers won 4-0 and 4-2 on aggregate as the first leg ended 2-0 in favour of Sdwashini United.<\/p>\n

Two gunshots had to be fired by plain-clothed police officers to calm the volatile situation.<\/p>\n

According to Hhohho Regional Super League 2022\/23 Rules and Regulations compiled by the Competitions Committee approved by the Eswatini Football Association, assaulting match officials is a serious offence.<\/p>\n

Article 8 states that any club whose member,fan or official engage in unsporting behaviour or violent behaviour after a match shall be guilty of misconduct and be liable to tough punishment. \u2018Assaulting the match officials carries a minimum fine of E3 000 and in addition the club may be ordered to compensate the victim for any loss incurred as a result of the assault.<\/p>\n

Offending players shall be suspended for a period of not less than six months,\u2019 reads the article.<\/p>\n

The article further states that a second offender shall be suspended for 12 months while third offenders shall be banned from all football activities through the Eswatini Football Association.<\/p>\n
