Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>MPs have told the Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi, that her portfolio was besieged by thieves who had become very rich at the expense of the lives of emaSwati.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ndzingeni MP Lutfo Dlamini said the Ministry of Health was in shambles and it should change to ministry of sickness. He shared that the shortage of medication in public hospitals and clinics had given birth to millionaires, the same way they used to mushroom at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport previously. The MP shared that if there were people who had the guts to stop a forensic audit on something deemed a national crisis, it left a lot to be desired. It should be noted that there is an ongoing matter at the Industrial Court where government wants the court to discharge the order stopping it from proceeding with the forensic investigation against two senior health officials.<\/p>\n

During argument of the matter in court government contended that the interim order would collapse the healthcare service. The interim order, which government now seeks to have discharged, was issued by the court on June 16, 2023. \u201cThe people who are behind this are probably celebrating in victory because of the developments that unfolded in court. This is not about Cabinet or a government portfolio, but the thieves in the ministry and we can\u2019t have a country that will be run by thieves,\u201d he said. Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi, responding to the matter in Parliament yesterday, stated that it would be bad for the ministry to have the forensic investigation dropped because they wanted answers on the issue. Dlamini then suggested that the ministry should sign a memorandum of understanding with The Luke Commission and work collaboratively because there was a lot that the ministry could benefit after that move.<\/p>\n

The legislator shared that The Luke Commission was a top class facility that offered the best medical care the country had ever seen. \u201cWhat the minister is sharing with us in her update is nothing short of a joke. Let us go to the Luke Commission and ask for help. They boast the best surveillance system on the supply and distribution of drugs, one which could come in handy for the country because we have obviously failed on that aspect,\u201d he submitted. Dlamini also shared that the ministry should heap praises to His Majesty the King for visiting the facility recently. In response, Nkosi stated that the MP was right on The Luke Commission, stating that it was not just it, but<\/p>\n
