This is because the race for the best runner-up is equally fierce. After recovering from the 0-1 setback against Botswana to beat Namibia 2-1 on Saturday, Sihlangu kept their hopes of making the cut alive. However, it is not an easy road, as only a win against South Africa will guarantee passage to the semi-finals. This year saw a departure from previous tournaments, with 12 teams competing, split into three groups each containing four sides.<\/p>\n

The group winner and best second-placed side will advance to the semi-finals. The winner of group B will take on the winner of group C, with the top team in group A meeting the best runner-up. The best runner-up across the three groups will be determined as follows: The higher number of points the teams concerned obtain in their group matches; the superior goal difference of the teams concerned; and the higher number of goals of the teams concerned. If there is still no clear winner then it will come down to fair play points of the teams concerned in terms of yellow or red cards accumulated in the pool phase. After round two of three yesterday, there were three other countries in a tight race for best runner-up alongside Sihlangu. They include Comoros and Zambia, who are all on three points. Coach Dominic Kunene stressed on the need to win the Bafana Bafana game, assuring that there \u2018was an ace up his sleeve\u2019.<\/p>\n
