And through its sponsorship of the schools choral competition, the bank seeks to cover all the sectors that affect the youth. These sectors include education, health, entrepreneurship, poverty alleviation, and other sporadic needs of society. This was highlighted during the EswatiniBank School\u2019s Choral Music Competition, where the MD, Nozizwe Mulela, mentioned how this relationship between themselves and the Ministry of Education was helping the youth in ways such as keeping them in check and also providing them with means of generating income for themselves through their talents. \u201cThe bank is committed to growing the competition even further, as we believe it has the potential to transform the lives of the pupils who possess singing talent. We are aware that the country is faced with numerous challenges, such as youth unemployment. Thus, we believe that music can be one source of income for our children to earn a decent living and contribute towards the growth of the country\u2019s economy,\u201d said Mulela. \u201cYoung people are a constant inspiration to us and remain an ordinance when it comes to the bank\u2019s CSI programme,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Standards<\/b><\/p>\n

These words were also echoed by the School\u2019s Choral Music Association Chairperson, Sithembiso Dlamini, who mentioned that this platform has also created discipline in schools where the students have carried themselves to the highest of standards and even excelled in the classroom. \u201cThe bank could have easily said that they couldn\u2019t help this competition this year as most establishments suffered a great loss after the COVID-19 pandemic. EswatiniBank said no; they have to help grow and groom the youth of the kingdom through this initiative, and as an association, we are very grateful to see the impact of this project,\u201d said Dlamini. This was also said to have been tackled with the rise of substance abuse in schools, as children\u2019s time is occupied by something that ultimately grooms them into becoming functional individuals in society. \u201c The Bank continues to have confidence in the competition, hence the consistent sponsorship and support.<\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning that this competition started in 2005 with a sponsorship of Fifty Thousand Emalangeni (E50 000) and has grown over the years to this year\u2019s (2023) sponsorship package of Five Hundred Thousand Emalangeni (E500 000). The bank\u2019s MD also mentioned how this competition has seen many success stories, such as that of pupils who participated in it becoming conductors in this very competition, while others have commenced to pursue careers in music in neighbouring South Africa and overseas.<\/p>\n
