Christians last week participated in a prayer service organised by the country\u2019s three church mother bodies.<\/p>\n

The service aimed to seek divine intervention for peaceful elections, economic growth, and the upcoming 55\/55 double celebration.<\/p>\n

In a powerful display of unity and faith, religious leaders from various denominations gathered for an interfaith prayer service focused on peaceful elections, economic growth and the upcoming 55\/55 double celebration.<\/p>\n

The event was organised by the Swaziland Council of Churches, the League of African Churches and Eswatini Conference of churches, aiming to bring together people from different religious backgrounds to pray for a harmonious and prosperous future.<\/p>\n

Bishop Sipho Tembe, the program director for the event, delivered a thought-provoking message on the significance of the upcoming elections. Quoting from the scripture in 1 Timothy 2:1-3, he emphasised the importance of praying for those in authority and seeking God\u2019s guidance in choosing leaders who will govern with integrity and wisdom.<\/p>\n

The prayer service began with Bishop Samson Hlatjwako, a respected spiritual leader, introducing the prayer items. He emphasised the importance of prayer and unity in times of political and economic challenges. Bishop Hlatjwako then read a scripture from the book of Matthew, specifically Matthew 21:18-22, which highlighted the significance of faith and the power of prayer.<\/p>\n

The prayer items focused on several key issues that are crucial for the nation\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n

The congregation fervently prayed for peaceful elections, hoping that the democratic process would be conducted smoothly, free from any form of violence or unrest. They also sought divine intervention for robust economic growth, recognizing the importance of a thriving economy in improving the lives of all citizens.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the upcoming 55\/55 double celebration, which holds great historical and cultural significance for the nation, was also included in the prayer agenda. The congregation lifted their voices in prayer, seeking blessings and favour for the commemoration of this momentous occasion.<\/p>\n

Following the introductory remarks, the congregation was blessed with an inspiring sermon by Bishop Jerome Sangweni, representing the League of African Churches. Bishop Sangweni focused his sermon on the theme of peaceful elections, drawing inspiration from the biblical account in 2 Samuel 23:13-17. He emphasised the need for all citizens to promote peace, unity, and respect for one another during the election process.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the nation moves forward towards the elections, the prayers offered here will undoubtedly resonate in the hearts of the citizens, encouraging them to actively engage in the democratic process and work towards a better future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
