Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>It was a war of words between supporters of Nomalungelo LaZwide Simelane and Gcina Dlamini.<\/b><\/p>\n

The two were nominated for the Member of Parliament (MP) candidate at KaMkhweli community under Siphofaneni Inkhundla. During the nomination of MP candidates, which took place around 7pm, registrants were ushered back to the hall since it was dark and some of them had left. The energy was extremely high during the MP nominations. The first candidate to be nominated was outgoing MP Nomalungelo Simelane. Almost the entire hall was almost turned into a rally, as people started singing when her nominee Makhosazana Nhlabatsi was called to the front. The Presiding Officer, Vusumuzi Mdluli, tried to call the hall to order since the room was almost turning into a political rally, and after some time as Mdluli kept on urging the supporters not to dance inside the hall, the supporters maintained order.<\/p>\n

After Simelane accepted the nomination, her seconders were queueing for verification and the next nomination was called. The next nominee was Gcina Dlamini who was nominated by Ncobizwe Nhlabatsi. Dlamini\u2019s supporters outdid Simelane\u2019s and the EBC officers for quite some time struggled to control them as they continued with their celebration like no one\u2019s business. While Dlamini\u2019s followers were celebrating and lifting him up, the former MP\u2019s followers started asking the EBC officers as well as the police officers why were they letting Dlamini\u2019s followers to turn the nomination process into a rally while they denied them that opportunity. \u201cHow come you let them celebrate yet you stopped us like we had just committed the worse sin on earth,\u201d said one of the male supporters who were standing next to the outgoing MP. The other supporters who were queueing to support both aspiring MPs nominations started arguing among each other. The former MP tried to stop the leading supporter politely.<\/p>\n

\u201cNever mind them it is just a nomination not voting yet,\u201d she said. Meanwhile, the supporters who had obviously divided the hall into two factions were pointing at each other until they calmed down as the officers kept on telling them to stop. The officer went on to tell them that their act was putting their favourite candidates at risk of being disqualified as well.<\/p>\n
