Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Mbabane Swallows have opted against signing former Mbabane Highlanders striker Fabrice Mopina.<\/b><\/p>\n

The seasoned forward is said to have failed to impress the Umkhonto KaShaka technical team. The publication reported last month that the capital city giants were close to signing the former Moneni Pirates striker, after the player started training with the team .The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)-born striker was recently in the books of Mbabane Highlanders and he travelled with the team to the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup for their pre-season tournament in Ulundi outside Durban, South Africa. According to well-informed sources, the former Manzini Wanderers striker has stopped training after failing to impress the Caleb Ngwenya-led technical team. \u201cMopina looked destined to sign in the club but stopped training after failing to impress the coach,\u201d said the source. He did not travel with the team to Witbank this past weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is definitely not coming back not unless the coach changes his mind, which looks unlikely,\u201d the source stressed. Mopina, who was spotted during Saturday\u2019s Bible Cup, which was won by Mbabane Highlanders at the Mavuso Sports Centre, said it was true that he had stopped training with the team after being told that he was not in the plans of the coach. \u201cI was told that the coach didn\u2019t like me and I stopped training on Tuesday morning with the team. I was actually hoping that I would sign for them,\u201d he said. Meanwhile, Mbabane Swallows General Manager (GM) Sandile \u2018Beyond 2000\u2019 Zwane said they had some players that they were looking at and Mopina was one of them. \u201cYes, it\u2019s true that Fabrice was currently training with the team and stopped training with the team last week,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The striker, who is a free agent, was not going to be new in the Umkhonto KaShaka surroundings after being forced to deregister with Swallows to open up space for Zimbabwe-born midfielder Alois Ngwerume several years ago. \u2018Birds\u2019 had exhausted the foreign quota allocation of five players.
