Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Lugongolweni Member of Parliament (MP) nominee Sihle Dlamini suspects bad omen, after furniture and clothing items valued at E40 000 were burnt on Saturday night, at his home in Mzilikazi.<\/b><\/p>\n

He said it was not clear what might have started the fire. Dlamini said he was away in Johannesburg, South Africa, when he received a call from a neighbour, informing him that his house was burning. The aspiring MP suspected that a bad omen may have befallen him ahead of the primary elections, as he also dodged bullets in the recent shooting at the Manzini Bus Rank. He said bed, television set, refrigerator and clothing items, were burnt in the fire. \u201cI received a call around midnight, informing me about my burning house. They told me that they tried to put out the flames but already the bed and clothes, including the television set, had been burnt. This is the second incident to take place as I also dodged bullets in Manzini when trying to intervene during an altercation of a man and his girlfriend,\u201d he said. Dlamini stated that the latest developments had only taken place after he was nominated.<\/p>\n

Claimed<\/b><\/p>\n

He claimed that there were people who were behind this and wanted him dead. However, he declined to elaborate when asked how a random shooting had anything to do with people who wanted him dead. He stated that his twin brother, Simphiwe, also rushed to his home after being informed about the fire. The Siteki Eswatini National Fire Rscue and Emergency Services Station personnel acted swiftly and attended to the scene and put out the fire. \u201cI also conducted an inspection after my arrival from Johannesburg to ascertain the cause of the fire but I failed to get any clues. Electricity cables are all in good condition, including electricity appliances and they were not plugged,\u201d the aspiring MP said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in March this year, this publication reported about a man who admitted in court that he was a witch who could burn people\u2019s property with a mysterious fire known as lubane.<\/p>\n

As a result of his admission or confession to practising witchcraft, the Siteki Magistrate Court fined Eric Mtshelele Mdvoti E1 000 or two years imprisonment. He was convicted of contravening the Crimes Act of 1889 (Chapter 4 \u2013 Witchcraft). The magistrate could have sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment if he had invoked Section 79 without leniency. The section reads: \u201cAny person who, on the advice of a witchdoctor or his pretended knowledge of witchcraft and with intent to injure, uses or causes to be put into operation such means or processes as he believes to be calculated to injure any person or property, shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of E1 000 or imprisonment not exceeding 10 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Times Sunday visited Gucuka near Siphofaneni to interview the man who was so bold that he admitted to practising witchcraft. Mdvoti (45) confirmed to this newspaper that he actually admitted to that he used lubane to burn Ntjege Mamba\u2019s three-bedroom house at Gucuka on March 17, 2013. Mamba (63) is a headman of the community. A bedroom, kitchen, clothes and wedding gifts (umhlambiso) belonging to Mamba\u2019s wife were damaged.<\/p>\n
