Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology engaged stakeholders on the Eswatini e-commerce Readiness Assessment.<\/b><\/p>\n

During the stakeholder engagement, project consultant, Mr Paul Baker, from Rise Africa delivered the headline results of the e-commerce Readiness Assessment.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the stakeholder engagement today in Mbabane, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information Communication Technology Phesheya Dube thanked all stakeholders for their contributions to the sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis report will become an integral tool in our wider digitalisation roadmap, and really catalyse Eswatini\u2019s transition to a digital economy We are happy that when conducting the assessment, Africa Rise has taken cue from the AMTAD, which is the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development \u2013 their e-trade readiness assessment methodology, and has also gone a step further to contextualise the assessment to Eswatini\u2019s landscape,\u201d said the Principal Secretary through his representative Andreas Dlamini.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ministry commits itself, and further implores the community of the private sector, non-governmental agencies, development partners, and all stakeholders to the implementation of policy recommendations that will emerge from the assessment,\u201d implored the PS.<\/p>\n

He added that the development of the National E-commerce Strategy was the next phase of the project.<\/p>\n

The survey is a joint project by the Ministry of ICT, Ministry of Commerce Industry and Trade and ESCCOM. It was made possible through the financial and technical support by the EU Delegation of Eswatini through the Africa RISE (Reform for Investment and Sustainable Economies) programme.<\/p>\n

During his presentation the project consultant, Paul Baker, covered the project scope, key findings as well as recommendations. Stakeholders were also given an opportunity to make comments on the findings.<\/p>\n
