Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Teams expected the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) to get E200 000 to help them comply with the club licensing requirements.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was raised by the teams during the PLE special meeting last month, ahead of the Ordinary General Assembly (OGM). According to the meeting\u2019s minutes, the teams were to share E200 000, which is a portion from the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) grant that was previously agreed on to pay an auditor to do the clubs\u2019 audited financial statements. According to the minutes, teams ended up not receiving the money.<\/p>\n

Assistance<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cThe meeting enquired if there was any team that received assistance from the E200 000, which is a portion from the EFA grant that was previously agreed would be used to pay an auditor to do the clubs audited financial statements. They stated that this was because their club used its own money to pay for its audits,\u201d read the minutes in part. However, PLE informed the clubs that pursuant to consultations, EFA had since relaxed the initial requirement for club licensing, hence the portion of the grant ended up not being released. It was agreed that the PLE should engage EFA on how the grant was now intended to be used and report back to the teams. Before the kick-off of every season, teams are expected to register with EFA, where they are required to comply with all the requirements.<\/p>\n

Teams also suggested that they could also secure one auditor, who could do the financial audit for all the teams to reduce it costs. However, a suggestion was raised that the money be distributed and shared among the clubs. In almost a related and different scenario, Tambankulu Callies had also raised a view that teams must be given E10 million to assist them comply with club licensing.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, financial statements are just one of the Confederation of Africa (CAF) five pillars for club licensing. Others are sporting personnel, infrastructure, administrative, women and juniors teams, and legal.<\/p>\n
