Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Hlatikulu factory that was burnt down during the June 2021 unrest has been reconstructed and re-launched with more employment opportunities.<\/b><\/p>\n

The factory, whose initial investment by Jendas Group, a textile manufacturing company was E10 million, was reconstructed through the Reconstruction Fund and handed over to the group by Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The minister revealed that the group had been in business for over 30 years and was expected to employ 400 people at initial phase.<\/p>\n

Khumalo added that the figures were expected to grow as the company continued to operate in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis company will have a positive impact on the economy of the town,\u201d said Khumalo.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that government had been working determinedly to reconstruct a number of infrastructures that were affected by unrest.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is exciting to be able to get to where we are today and be ready to move forward with Jendas Group.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2018We are grateful for his Majesty\u2019s vision and leadership on the reconstruction Fund and the support from his government,\u201d he said . Khumalo added that government welcomed Jendas Group to Hlatikulu.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving a factory here is part of decentralisation initiative of having factory shells at different parts of the country, where workers will have to travel short distances from their respective homes to work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The minister stated that the area would benefit immensely.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only from the direct jobs, but from other perpetual services that will accrue as they operate in the same eco-system,\u201d said Khumalo.<\/p>\n

He added that he believed strongly that the country possessed a set of advantages in the region that justified locating the manufacturing operation with the aim of supplying the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cEswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) and the ministry will support your company in any way possible to make the environment conducive,\u201d concluded the minister.<\/p>\n
