Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation sent a message of solidarity to the Kingdom of Morocco after an earthquake hit the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

A message was communicated in collaboration with the office of the prime minister requesting the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco to transmit the message of sympathy and renewed the country\u2019s support.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Eswatini presented its compliments to the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Pretoria and had the honour to request the latter to transmit the message of sympathy to the Government of the Arab nation.<\/p>\n

A magnitude 6.8 earth-quake hit Morocco killing over 632 people, injuring more than 670, and damaging ancient buildings. The natural disaster forced terrified residents to flee their homes into the streets for safety. Morocco\u2019s State television confirmed the death toll yesterday, citing the Ministry of Interior. Of those injured, 205 were reported to be in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

Notably at the time Eswatini men\u2019s national football team Sihlangu Semnikati was in the city of Marrakech, which is one of the places affected by the earthquake when it happened.<\/p>\n

The national team had just finished its fixture against Burkina Faso, which ended in a 0-0 draw. None of the local players was reported injured in the earthquake.<\/p>\n

We express strong solidarity with the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco and the people of Morocco. We pray for the deceased\u2019s families and relatives, we hope that Allah will comfort them during this moment of great loss,\u201d said the prime minister.<\/p>\n
