This was reaffirmed by the Deputy Prime Minister\u2019s Office today in an official statement correcting false allegations that have been circulating on social media regarding the elderly.<\/p>\n

The statement reveals that there has been a disinformation campaign making the false allegations that Government intends to disburse elderly grants to beneficiaries who are 70 years old and upward. The DPM\u2019s Office, as the Government department responsible for social welfare programmes including elderly grants, made it very clear that the gant beneficiary age will continue to be 60 years and above.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurther, it is alleged that Government intends to conduct a vaccination campaign of all elderly citizens in the country, in a bid to prevent them from reachingthe \u2018newly proposed\u2019 elderly beneficiary year,\u201d read the statement from the DPM\u2019s Office on the ludicrous allegations.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis Majesty\u2019s Government remains committed in ensuring that elderly grants beneficiaries (60 years and above) cintinue to receive their grants every month,\u201d concluded the state from the DPM\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

The Public is advised to be wary of any information received through unofficial pages on social media, as it is the new front for disinformation. Other organisations which have been affected in the previous include the official Eswatini Government page on Facebook when a fake version of the page appeared on Facebook, as well as FNB Eswatini who experienced a similar false representation of their organisation before getting it shut down by Facebook.
