Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Eswatini has assured the Southern African Development Community (SADC) of its commitment to dialogue and diplomacy over violence.<\/b><\/p>\n

The country\u2019s High Commissioner to South Africa and SADC, Lindiwe Kunene reiterated His Majesty King Mswati III\u2019s words at the SADC Heads of State Summit in Angola, where the monarch made it known to the intergovernmental organisation that Eswatini would dialogue through Sibaya as per the Constitution.<\/p>\n

Kunene said this when making her remarks when presenting letters of credence to SADC Executive Secretary, Elias Magosi yesterday.<\/p>\n

The high commissioner stated that Eswatini\u2019s rich cultural heritage has kept the nation united during turbulent years of wars and political turmoil, stating that dialogue and diplomacy was how the country was freed from colonialism.<\/p>\n

\u201cEswatini is rooted in a monarchical system of governance like any other states which practice the same,\u201d she emphasised.<\/p>\n

Kunene said the Eswatini government was appreciative of the visits SADC made to the country in response to the political unrest, stating that it showed an open mind to the landscape and the way of life of Emaswati as opposed to secondary information, which may be misleading at times.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is also in line with the Eswatini government’s policy of non-interference in the domestic affairs of other countries,\u201d said the high commissioner, adding that the country remained committed to SADC member states and the endeavour to combat security threats that engulf the region at large together.<\/p>\n

She also extended Their Majesties, the government and the people of Eswatini\u2019s congratulation to the secretariat for the recent success of the summit in Angola as well as its approach and commitment in handling the region\u2019s matters.<\/p>\n

Kunene said Eswatini as a founding member of SADC has collaborated with the SADC secretariat and member states on issues that touched on peace and security cooperation, information, communications and technology (ICT), food security, education, infrastructure development and health, highlighting His Majesty the King\u2019s 2016 vision of an establishment of a SADC university of transformation aimed at boosting industrialisation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe King\u2019s vision is in line with the 2023 SADC Heads of State summit theme: \u2018Human and financial capital: the key levers for sustainable industrialisation of the SADC region,” said Kunene, further thanking Magosi for the warm welcome and promising to exert her efforts in furthering the objectives of the region\u2019s founding fathers of a common future.<\/p>\n
