Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) managed to get an award for being among the best during this year\u2019s Eswatini International Trade Fair (EITF).<\/b><\/p>\n

The police service joined in to exhibit during the EITF, which was the first in three years, as it was last held in 2019.<\/p>\n

The Trade Fair is a 10-day event that gives businesses, government department and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) a platform to showcase their products and services. The event is hosted by the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) and in the past three years it was on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors.<\/p>\n

REPS was awarded the first prize as the best exhibition stall among government ministries and departments. The award was received by Deputy national Commissioner of Police Wendy Hleta from Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo who was representing the Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini during the closing ceremony of the trade fair on Monday.<\/p>\n

The REPS exhibited the services it offers to the public. It also offered minimal services, such as the fingerprints elimination (police clearance) during the Trade Fair.<\/p>\n

Some of the departments that engaged with the members of the public at the EITF included fraud, crime prevention, traffic, firearms, drug and domestic violence, child protection and sexual offences unit among others. The stall was a hive of activity as the public came through to engage the police officers and seek answers on particular matters.<\/p>\n

The REPS, guided by the theme \u2018Facilitating endless possibilities through robust policing interventions\u2019 which was aligned with the EITF one, engaged with all those who visited their stall robustly on possible strategies that can be implemented in the fight against crime in the country.<\/p>\n

Dlamini acknowledged that the standard of exhibition this year was high.<\/p>\n

He said the number of countries that exhibited in this year trade fair was evidence enough that it was indeed an international trade fair. \u201cIndeed, it was an International Trade Fair with many countries exhibiting at this year\u2019s trade fair.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe amount of economic stimulation derived from the trade fair is enormous as many companies, contractors, traders and vendors were engaged in business activities with benefits that extend beyond the 10 days.”<\/p>\n

The PM said the government services were also present at the Trade Fair in the spirit of taking services to the people.<\/p>\n

He said the 10-day trade fair was modelling a one-stop- shop, where the public could get access to the many government departments and parastatals in one place.<\/p>\n

The next Trade Fair is slated for August 30 to September 8, 2024. Dlamini congratulated EIPA for successfully organising the 2023 event.<\/p>\n
