Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Acting Minister of Home Affairs Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe has officially announced the national elections holiday.<\/b><\/p>\n

The holiday will officially be on September 29, 2023 in accordance with the Public Holidays Act 1998.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m pleased to inform the Nation that next week Friday, September 29, 2023 is declared a National Elections holiday,\u201d said Ndwandwe.<\/p>\n

The public\u2019s reaction to the news was welcoming and excited. Some took to their social media platforms to announce and share Ndwandwe\u2019s statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cNgete sasala nasakha live letfu. Let us go vote guys and make a change be part of change,\u201d shared one Facebook user.<\/p>\n

Another said \u201c Siyabonga. Come Friday we are ready to choose and vote well,\u201d,<\/p>\n

This was the many other messages that were shared all over social media upon the release of the statement.<\/p>\n

Worth mentioning is that the secondary elections will take place on September 29,2023. That will mark the end of the election process.<\/p>\n

Winners in the 59 constituency ballots will take seats in parliament\u2019s lower house, along with 10 lawmakers that the king appoints directly.<\/p>\n

His Majesty can veto any legislation, appoints the prime minister and cabinet, and is constitutionally above the law.<\/p>\n

He also selects 20 of the 30 senators in the upper house. The rest are elected by the lower house.<\/p>\n

Candidates cannot be affiliated to any political group under the constitution which emphasises individual merit as the basis for selecting members of parliament and public officials.<\/p>\n
