Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>There is a new border being considered for Jozini.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was discussed as part of the agenda when Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Moses Vilakati hosted a delegation from the Municipality of Jozini which shares a border with Eswatini.<\/p>\n

The Minister and the officials from the Jozini Municipality met to discuss how a border gate can be established at the Cecil-Marks Pass which connects South Africa and Eswatini at Jozini. Speaking to the officials, Minister Vilakati explored some of the benefits the two countries stand to gain.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should continue to see how the three countries can work together, when you include Mozambique. We will remember that we had a \u2018History Route\u2019 in the past. This initiative is another which could help bring back that programme which was there,\u201d said the Minister.<\/p>\n

The Minister noted that there are numerous landmarks on both sides of the border to significantly motivate tourism. He emphasised that this would help improve the economies and tourism of both countries.<\/p>\n

The Minister\u2019s words were echoed by the Public Relations Officer from the Jozini Municipality, Delani Mabika.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no big town that exists in that place. The closest big town for people who stay at Jozini, KwaMathende, KwaMngomezulu, and at KwaNyawo, is in Eswatini over there at Matata, and they even end up crossing over to Mbabane itself,\u201d noted Mabika.<\/p>\n

The Minister revealed that there is research which will be done to uncover more tourist attractions.<\/p>\n

He added that the initiative will be executed in conjunction with the Ministry of Home Affairs, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations.<\/p>\n
