Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>There are over 30 women who will be contesting for the Member of Parliament (MP) position in the secondary elections come Friday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Yesterday numbers received from the Elections Boundaries Commission (EBC) special voting exercise show that at least 35 women made it to the last leg of the elections.<\/p>\n

This comes shortly after His Majesty King Mswati III and Her Majesty Indlovukazi advocated for women to elect each other and put each other in positions of leadership and management.<\/p>\n

\u201cVote for women, I want to see more women in power because their place is no longer in the kitchen behind the stove,\u201d said Her Majesty Indlovukazi during Buganu earlier this year.<\/p>\n

True to the word a number of women have been seen leading the pack and being voted in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI came here to vote for my collogue, she is running for MP in Ludzeludze and I want to make sure she wins this and brings change to the community,\u201d said one Selina Matsebula.<\/p>\n

A Women\u2019s Rights advocate in the country, Sarafina Mlotshwa said she was happy with the results and hoped Friday will even be more fruitful.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are celebrating yes, we hope Friday we get to celebrate more because we want more women in positions of power. Let us come out in numbers and keep women on the throne,\u201d said Mlotshwa.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, throngs of emaSwati crammed the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre for the Special voting.<\/p>\n

Other leading packs in votes were journalists and Ministers, who are going to be in office for the last time today.<\/p>\n

On Friday, September 29, 2023, it will be a National Holiday which will see people take to their different Tinkhundla to vote.<\/p>\n

Yesterday during the special voting exercises a number of people voted, eligible pupils at Vulamasango High School also got a chance to vote during the Special Voting Process.<\/p>\n

Leaders of the National Security agents including the Police Commander Tsintsibala Dlamini, His Majesty\u2019s Correctional Service LaMakhosini Dlamini and other high-ranking officers also took to the ballot to cast their votes.<\/p>\n
