Artist applications for MTN Bushfire 2024 are now open. Next year\u2019s festival, which will mark the 17th edition of the MTN Bushfire Festival, will be held from May 31\u2013 June 2 at House on Fire in the Kingdom of Eswatini. When reached for comment, Festival Director Jiggs Thorne said; \u201cMTN Bushfire invites live performers of the highest calibre, who share the festival\u2019s mission, to celebrate creative expression, while promoting social responsibility and inclusion, to send in their applications via our online application process.\u201d He went on to say that artist applications close on October 31, 2023. Application links can be found on the MTN Bushfire website Artists page at www.bush-fire.com, as well as on MTN Bushfire social media platforms.<\/p>\n

The festival director further said, \u201cMTN Bushfire looks for a diversity in musical styles and genres. Rooted in Africa and packaged for the world, MTN Bushfire\u2019s line-up has always embraced the eccentric and unearthed the eclectic, featuring a wholesome mix of pan-African and international artists from across different genres, that do more than simply entertain, but also use their art as a powerful form of creative advocacy,\u201d elaborated Thorne.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth mentioning that the festival\u2019s v-arious stages and platforms host a wide range of performances, including live music, DJs, site and roving performances, dance showcases, art exhibitions and installations, theatre, poetry, storytelling, puppetry, film and much more. Further opportunities for performances exist in the EU Bushfire Schools Festival, which is held the week preceding the MTN Bushfire festival and supports creative skills and personal growth among students, as well as the family-friendly KidZone.<\/p>\n

Named \u2018Top African festival\u2019 by the BBC, hailed by CNN as one of the \u2018Seven African music festivals you really have to see,\u2019 and winner of the Most Responsible Event Award at the WTM African Responsible Tourism Awards in 2017, MTN Bushfire is much more than a music festival.<\/p>\n

With its #BRINGYOURFIRE clarion call to ignite action for positive social and environmental change, MTN Bushfire is deeply involved in a range of social and arts development initiatives.<\/p>\n
