Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Business Eswatini (BE) says it would be folly for newly-elected parliamentarians to neglect the private sector.<\/b><\/p>\n

BE said this would be tantamount to undermining the very dreams and aspirations collectively shared by the nation. In a statement issued by the BE management yesterday, the organisation said this was the challenge they placed before the incoming Members of Parliament (MPs). The organisation stated that it had no reason to believe that they (MPs) would not be equal to the task. \u201cIt is for this reason that we hereby congratulate them heartily on their victory even before they take their oath of office,\u201d said BE. The BE management noted that undoubtedly, it was the private sector that was the engine for economic growth and job-creation, on which the country\u2019s aspirations for prosperity and a better future for all were predicated.<\/p>\n

Relied<\/b><\/p>\n

BE said it was also the private sector the country relied upon to create the jobs and national wealth, which all desperately seek for the country\u2019s socially-inclusive development agenda.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of members of Business Eswatini, and indeed the whole private sector of the Kingdom, we would like to nail our colours to the mast in support of the incoming MPs of the 12th august house as we wish them well in their pursuit of the public mandate and the country\u2019s larger vision,\u201d said BE.<\/p>\n

Acknowledged<\/b><\/p>\n

The management added that in the same vein, acknowledged those aspiring MPs who tossed their hat into the ring but were unsuccessful in securing a victory. BE said to be believing that their participation in the race was a good thing, if only because it served to widen the competitive rivalry and enrich the socio-political space and discourse. \u201cWe would like to thank them for their courage in joining the race and their poise and grace in the face of subsequent defeat. We say to them: \u2018Akulahlwa mbheleko ngakufelwa\u2019,\u201d said BE. BE also acknowledged the work of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) in executing what was now widely regarded to have been a generally hassle-free election, with minimal disruptions and undue protestations.<\/p>\n

BE noted that EBC pulled it off and the success was, in no small part, also due to the elections app developed by the Royal Science and Technology Park (RSTP), which played a crucial role in terms of real-time information updates. \u201cWe congratulate RSTP in this regard. Granted, the app is still work-in-progress and we hope it will be fully refined by the next election-cycle,\u201d said BE management.<\/p>\n
