Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>To transform potential energy solutions into women\u2019s economic empowerment, especially amidst the compounded socio-economic crises and COVID-19 pandemic, UNDP, in partnership with the Government of Eswatini, is enhancing the integration and advancement of women in the renewable energy sector by improving their know-how and active role in climate change, solar panels and renewable energy.<\/b><\/p>\n

There is ongoing training facilitated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy together with UNDP worth E136 000 that seeks to empower these women.<\/p>\n

According to UNDP Temndeni Khumalo, to contribute to the reduction of gender inequality in the energy sector, 50 women entrepreneurs are undergoing a five-day training on clean energy and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

\u201cUNDP is supporting the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy for the training held at Sibane Sami. This training has been made possible through support from the Republic of Korea and Luxembourg under UNDP\u2019s Funding Window for Gender Equality and Women\u2019s Empowerment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The participants include women from rural areas and women with disabilities who will receive starter packs post-training.<\/p>\n

Some of the women have businesses they are responsible for, one of them a person with a disability, *Nosimilo Dlamini said she wished to know more about renewable energy because her business requires that.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere I come from, there is little to no electricity yet my business needs that, I hope from this training I can learn new things on how to keep my business thriving and know more about clean renewable energy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
