Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>\u201cThis is the first test of these honourable members of this honourable house,\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

These were the words of Clerk to Parliament Benedict Xaba when speaking to Members of Parliament before they began the process of electing senators for today.<\/p>\n

The next 5 years will determine whether the MP\u2019s passed the test by electing the right senators today, as the day ended with the election of 10 senators by the MP\u2019s to sit in the 12th Parliament in the Kingdom of Eswatini.<\/p>\n

Below is the full list of senators who were elected today:<\/p>\n

Dlamini Fezeka Nothando \u2013 14 votes<\/p>\n

Mkhonta Majaha Siphelele \u2013 13 votes<\/p>\n

Nxumalo Lorraine Nkhosingisite \u2013 12 votes<\/p>\n

Sibandze Nkosikhona Sicalisa \u2013 12 votes<\/p>\n

Nxumalo Linda \u2013 12 votes<\/p>\n

Mdluli Ndumiso Mfanukhona \u2013 14 votes<\/p>\n

Nkosi Lizzie Funekile \u2013 12 votes<\/p>\n

Dlamini Sicelo Cedusizi \u2013 16 votes<\/p>\n

Ngwenya Lindiwe Patricia \u2013 11 votes<\/p>\n

Mndvoti Celumusa Ernest \u2013 13 votes<\/p>\n

Some candidates were eliminated fairly early in the vote counting process, as no MP had voted for them as their first preference candidate for senator. These include Majobha Magagula, Magagula Zombodze, Maphosa Shedrack, and Mavimbela Patrick.<\/p>\n

His Majesty King Mswati III is expected to appoint a further 20 Senators to complete the House of Senate, as the per the country\u2019s Constitution.<\/p>\n
