This adage may prove true of what the ‘Beautiful Birds’ Mbabane Swallows intend to do, as they literally want to ‘swallow’ their pride to redeem the image that was left by the departed former director Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze.<\/p>\n

The team has made it succinctly that they want Archbishop Bheki Lukhele and the late former chairman\u2019s wife Princess Lungile to normalise the situation in the club. They say showing a brave face while the situation deteriorates in the team was not in their blood-stream.<\/p>\n

These sentiments were shared by the club’s mouthpiece Knowledge \u2018Bhambo\u2019 Ngwenya in his weekly column in one of the local print media yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cDear Swallows family, please be informed that our stand-in Board Chairman Masotja Vilakati expressed his concerns of not having a director in this big brand. He made it known that he was willing to engage the former club president, Archbishop Bheki Lukhele and (Mrs Gamedze) Princess Lungile on the team’s stand,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Ngwenya added that they were grateful for the support given to the team by Bishop Lukhele who stepped down about five mounts ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are humbled that the archbishop has continued to support the team with his resources to date. While we continue to pray hard for the Lord to change the team\u2019s fortunes, the team must soldier on as the games are coming fast.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ngwenya then applauded Eclipse Investments for coming through for the capital city giants.<\/p>\n

The team is enjoying daily meals provided through the company’s gesture, among other services they render to the team.<\/p>\n

“We plead with our loyal supporters to desist from violent acts to make sure the sponsor\u2019s image is protected for continuity in the assistance provided,\u201d Ngwenya added. ‘Umkhonto kashaka, as the team is fondly known, are reported to have been owing players’ signing-on fees that resulted in some players being unhappy.<\/p>\n

They have also reconciled with their head coach, Caleb Ngwenya, who has been unhappy in the team due to interference from the team\u2019s top officials.<\/p>\n

The MoMo Cup runners-up have two pending matches in the league against giant slayers Madlenya and MoMo Cup architects Nsingizini Hotspurs.<\/p>\n

They are also due to take on police side Royal Leopard over the weekend. In recent times Swallows have reached three cup finals and only managed to win one, which is the Hospice at Home Charity Cup.<\/p>\n

Coach Ngwenya has also led the team to two domestic cup finals, being the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Trade Fair Cup and the MoMo Cup, which they lost on penalties. Swallows have so far played two games in the league, where they won 2-1 against Rangers before losing 1-4 to Green Mamba.<\/p>\n
