At the heart of this campaign is a call to action, elevating the nation’s awareness of cyber security and its direct link to the security of our nation and the safety of our personal lives. Also to engage the public, the private sector, and consumers in our relentless efforts to enhance cyber security and to generate and communicate strategies that empower our nation to protect themselves, their families, and communities online, ” he said.

Dube disclosed that the Ministry is resolute in its effort to raise awareness, build capabilities, promote reporting cyber incidents and adopt secure online behavior.

“It is safe to mention that this campaign is not merely rhetoric; it is a proactive endeavour to provide practical, up-to-date cyber security information through awareness initiatives, capacity building, and the sharing of best practices, ” he said.

He explained that cybercrime is rising exponentially in Eswatini and the estimated cost, from January 2022 to June 2023, is E177 million, with online fraud accounting for a significant 95 percent of that cost.

“I am great hearted that our government has been proactive in establishing a solid legal framework to bolster cyber security. The Computer Crime and Cybercrime Act of 2022, Data Protection Act of 2022, and Electronic Transactions Act of 2022 serve as the foundation for securing our digital future. In addition, we have diligently developed the National Cyber security Strategy 2022 -2027, which outlines our roadmap for a more secure digital environment, ” he said.

He further thanked the Eswatini Communications Commission for invaluable role in shaping the cyberspace of Eswatini and for their unwavering dedication in organising the event.

“It is through the tireless efforts of such partnerships between Government, the Regulator, law enforcement, the financial sector and many other stakeholders, that we continue to progress in our journey toward a safer digital environment”, he said.

For More News And Analysis About Eswatini Follow Africa-Press

Africa-Press – Eswatini.
