Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>A Mbabane Government Hospital employee has been divorced after he cheated on his wife, resulting in him impregnating five maids who worked at their marital home at various intervals.<\/b><\/p>\n

This transpired at the Mbabane Magistrates Court, where *Sindi instituted divorce proceedings against *Musa.<\/p>\n

When motivating her application, Sindi told the court that Musa had failed to conduct himself as her husband since they entered into marriage on July 28, 2013. She stated that they were married through civil rites, under community of property. According to Sindi, three children were born in the marriage.<\/p>\n

She submitted that Musa had cheated on her with maids since they entered into the marriage in 2013. Sindi told the court that a final decree of divorce could be the only solution after having tried all in her powers to save the marriage. \u201cI fear that our continued marriage could result in me being infected with sexually transmitted diseases. My husband has had many relationships, resulting in him having many children out of wedlock,\u201d she submitted.<\/p>\n

Cheated<\/b><\/p>\n

She told the court that her husband first cheated on her with a maid, whom they hired to look after their first child in 2014. It was her evidence that her husband volunteered to get a maid as he was exposed to many people at his workplace. \u201cIn 2015, there were rumours in church that our maid was in a love relationship with my husband. While I was still shocked by the rumours, the maid left, claiming that she was pregnant. She later sent me a text message, stating that she was impregnated by my husband,\u201d submitted Sindi.<\/p>\n

She told the court that Musa admitted during a family meeting that he impregnated the maid. She stated that she got another maid, who fell pregnant in 2017. She submitted that she got to know that the maid was impregnated by Musa during a meeting called by her in-laws. \u201cI was so hurt to learn that my husband had impregnated the maid, because she openly declared that she was on medication with instructions from hospital. I wondered how my husband had the guts to impregnate someone who openly declared her illness,\u201d she submitted.<\/p>\n

Sindi told the court that apart from the maids, many of her employees accused her husband of having lured them into having sexual intercourse with him. She told the court that the maids included their neighbour, who went as far as accusing Musa of raping her. She said another maid attempted suicide as a result of an unfulfilled promise. Sindi told the court that her husband had promised the maid he would marry her.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe searched for the maid after she had disappeared, leaving a suicide note. We learnt from the suicide note that my husband had promised that he would divorce me and marry her. Fortunately, we located the maid before she could commit the suicide,\u201d she stated. Sindi stated that on one fateful day, she learnt that her husband had taken the first maid to school and further rented her a flat near the school. She stated that she made the discovery after having forgiven her husband.<\/p>\n

Surprise<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2020, my husband caught COVOD-19 and was admitted in Siteki. I used to check on him because I was working in Siteki in the time. I also sent him some money. However, to my surprise, when he was discharged from hospital, I discovered through messages that my husband used to send the money that I sent to him to the first maid, so that she could buy basic necessities such as food and electricity,\u201d she told court. In 2020, Sindi told the court that she decided to sleep in a separate room. At the time, she stated that she had hired a fifth maid to look after their children. She stated that the maid fell pregnant, but lied that she was impregnated by her boyfriend.<\/p>\n

It was Sindi\u2019s evidence that the maid later admitted have been impregnated by Musa. On February 18, 2021, Sindi told the court that Musa demanded her cellphone, accusing her of cheating on him. However, she stated that she refused with the cellphone, resulting in Musa assaulting and locking her in the house. \u201cWe had another maid. In 2020, we slept in separate rooms. The maid fell pregnant and she admitted having been impregnated by my husband. She tried to lie to me. In 2021, February 18, my husband demanded my phone, accusing me of cheating on him. He assaulted me and locked me in the house. My brother fetched me and took me home,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She submitted that her brother managed to fetch her from the house where she was still being locked in.<\/p>\n

Sindi told the court that her husband had not been contributing towards the maintenance of the three children since they separated. She applied that they contributed 50\/50 in the event she was granted the final decree of divorce. She stated that she had no problem with Musa seeing the children on arrangement even after the divorce. Sindi further submitted that the final decree of divorce could be the last resort since there were no prospects of reviving the marriage.<\/p>\n

Prayers<\/b><\/p>\n

This, she said, was because her husband failed to repent after having sought prayers and engaged families as well as clinical psychologists. \u201cMay the court grant the final decree of divorce so that I can seek counselling with my children. I have been through a lot,\u201d she submitted. On another note, it transpired that Musa had 12 children out of wedlock. This was raised by his lawyer when objecting to the 50\/50 maintenance proposal. However, the maintenance matter was postponed to November 8, 2023.<\/p>\n

On this day, Musa would be expected to furnish the court with his proof of payment and his children\u2019s birth certificates. Sindi had mentioned in court that she was currently spending E1 800 on the children\u2019s transport per month. She stated that she spent E1 600 on a maid. She told the court that it would be her prayer that they both contributed half of all the expenditure, including school fees. Magistrate Chazile Thwala granted the final decree of divorce pending finalisation of the maintenance matter.<\/p>\n
