Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Prime Minister (PM), Russell Mmemo Mmiso Dlamini, says he will not abandon Christ and his church as he assumes office. <\/b><\/p>\n

Dlamini said this in his maiden church service at the Apostolic Faith Mission after being appointed PM last Friday. He is a senior pastor at the church. He first thanked the congregation for its endless prayers for him. He then emphasised that his entire life had been anchored on Christianity and as such, he could not suspend his calling for five years. \u201cIf you were to suspend Christ in your life, you would not be in your \u2018senses\u2019. We are where we are in all spheres of life because of Him. With this, I\u2019m emphasising that we are here and we are not going anywhere,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Hallelujah<\/b><\/p>\n

He said they would continue worshipping with the church and be with them at all possible times. This was appreciated by the church members as they shouted a resounding Hallelujah.<\/p>\n

Dlamini said they would discuss a succession plan, given that his new assignment as the PM might have more demands than those of his previous job as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA). \u201cIt is not all Sundays and Wednesdays that I shall be here. Therefore, it means we need to reinforce (in the leadership of the church). As such, there is my son (Sandziso Mpungose), who is at Bible School and he shall soon be ordained as a pastor after completing his studies.\u201d The PM further said the church was lucky to have members who were in the State security forces, who were also Christians and some of them were present as his security detail.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he thanked the congregation in advance for the endless support they shall extend to his family as he assumed his new role as the PM. He quoted a verse in Ephesians 6 verse 10, which he said came to him while he was lying in bed in recent days. The verse reads: \u201cFinally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Put on the whole armour of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.\u201d Dlamini advised the congregation to be anchored in Christ and also read Joshua 1 verse 8 which reads: \u201cThis Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.\u201d This verse, he said, was one he had referred to after being appointed PM to garner courage for the new assignment. Thereon, he introduced Mpungose to the church and said the congregants were praying for him at Bible School.<\/p>\n

The PM said if he had known that he would attend the church service, their president would have been present as well, so that Mpungose would be ordained as a pastor. Dlamini said he had no doubt that Mpungose would be up for the task of preaching when his assignments prevented him from partaking in the church services. Subsequently, a number of pastors prayed for the PM with his spouse Philile nee Kunene. They kneeled on the floor while they were prayed for success in their new assignment at Hospital Hill.<\/p>\n
