Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>These words were the main theme for this year\u2019s Remembrance Day for the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force ex-servicemen.<\/b><\/p>\n

The event was held at Nokwane Defence Headquarters in Matsapha yesterday.<\/p>\n

It was attended by His Majesty King Mswati III, who was represented by Ludzidzini Council member, Mathendele Dlamini, the Prime Minister Russell Dlamini, the Deputy Prime Minister\u2019s representative Melusi Masuku and Head of Foreign Missions amongst other guests.<\/p>\n

A heartfelt tribute was delivered, honouring the courage and sacrifice of those who have served the country.<\/p>\n

The atmosphere was one of the solemnity and respect, as the people came together to pay tribute to the country\u2019s fallen heroes.<\/p>\n

The moment of silence was broken only by the sound of trumpets, played in honour of those who have paid the ultimate price.<\/p>\n

The service started with the singing of the national anthem by the three armed forces band, which was followed by the firing of guns by the parade.<\/p>\n

The first wreath was laid by the King\u2019s representative, followed by the representative from Umshadza war. The prime minister was the fourth person to lay the wreath in remembrance of the ex-servicemen, followed by the acting deputy prime minister and also followed by the country\u2019s security forces bosses.<\/p>\n

Head of Foreign Missions were also afforded a chance to lay the wreaths, followed by parliamentarians and other leaders of different organisations. The ex-servicemen were remembered by the reading of a Bible verse, Psalms 23, which was followed by the hymn number 23, \u2018My soul be on guard\u2019 sung by the parade in both English and Siswati.<\/p>\n

The programme director Mathokoza Mthethwa read a moving eulogy where he called upon the nation to remember all those who died for their countrymen especially those who fell in Emshadza and the first and second world wars. After the eulogy, attendees were all requested to reply with \u2018We will remember them\u2019.<\/p>\n
