Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) Secretary General (SG) Nozipho Mahlalela will be attending the Youth Forum in Accra, Ghana, scheduled for November 21, 2023. <\/b><\/p>\n

Mahlalela was selected to participate in the Youth Forum, which will, among other topics, discuss about the role of young people in the 13th African Games. She said she was honoured to have been selected by United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC) to represent the country at the UN-AUSC Youth Forum. AUSC is the acronym for Africa Union Sports Council.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m honoured to have been selected by UNAOC to represent my country at the \u2018UN-AUSC Youth Forum. During the forum, we will be discussing ways of using sports events to combat and prevent violent extremism, which is the use of violence to further ideological, religious, or political goals. Sports can be an effective tool to bridge cultural divides and promote peace. It brings people together regardless of their differences and creates a shared sense of purpose. By leveraging the power of sports, we can combat the dangerous ideologies that promote violence but promote unity and understanding instead,@ she said. Mahlalela stated that he was eagerly anticipating the event, as he hoped to gain valuable insights and bring back fresh ideas to share with other sports policymakers.<\/p>\n

Ultimately<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are all part of one human family, with different cultures, languages and skin colours, but ultimately, we are all one people. I look forward to learning new ideas and perspectives that I can bring home to inform our sports policies and strategies to combat violent extremism. The 13th Africa Games are a great opportunity to showcase the power that sports bring people together and promote peace, but I believe we need to extend these efforts beyond the games and into our policies. I\u2019m excited to engage with like-minded individuals at the UN-AUSC Youth Forum and collaborate on solutions,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The Youth Forum in Accra, Ghana is an event organised by the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC). It\u2019s aimed at promoting the role of young people in the 13th African Games, which were rescheduled to be held in Accra in 2023. The forum is an opportunity for young people to voice their opinions and ideas on how to make the games more inclusive and impactful for the youth.<\/p>\n
