Faltering hub giants Manzini Wanderers have appealed for financial assistance from supporters and members of the public, as their current situation was described as getting worse during the club\u2019s meeting held yesterday at Manzini Library.<\/b><\/p>\n

So serious is the situation that the team has halted training due to the financial quagmire, which has seen the players boycott training for over a week now, and they have not been in any action since the MTN Premier League loss to Rangers FC last weekend.<\/p>\n

Manzini Wanderers Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mduduzi ‘Mr G’ Ginindza said they needed to raise E15 000 before Monday (tomorrow) so that the players could return to training.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s difficult Maweseli. We need E15 000 as a matter of urgency. Let’s make the contributions,” he said.<\/p>\n

Elders Chairman Joe Nkumane said the Weslians had to come up with quick solutions to raise funds.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoney is the main problem here.<\/p>\n

We need to come up with solutions, as we have been having difficulties in finding a director, because businessmen are discouraged by the fan\u2019s behaviour. So let’s be careful not to paint a bad image about the club.<\/p>\n

We were hopeful that things will be okay one day,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The team\u2019s Board of Governor, Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli echoed the sentiments of other speakers, as he painted a bleak picture of the ongoing situation at the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe situation is not good, as we haven\u2019t even been training and the team is yet to do so as I speak. It’s a pity that some teams are out of the country during the FIFA break preparing themselves.<\/p>\n

Ours is a crying shame,” he said. Mdluli donated E1 000 after making his remarks while the supporters also made contributions.<\/p>\n

Other supporters feared that the team would get relegated following the financial challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can’t win matches if there’s no money. We need to also stop the infighting,” they said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, National Supporters Committee Secretary Sizwe ‘Motaung ‘ Shongwe said it was difficult to revive the team branches because the club was not winning.<\/p>\n
