Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Eswatini Stock Exchange observed a stellar run in terms of its stock performance this year.<\/b><\/p>\n

ESE Head, Joyce Dlamini attributed the performance to several factors, which contributed to this positive trend.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirstly, the overall economic stability and growth prospects of Eswatini have likely influenced investor sentiment, leading to increased demand for equities and contributing to a bullish stock market,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Dlamini said additionally, specific sectors or industries within the exchange may have outperformed others, driving overall market performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe stock performance of the Eswatini Stock Exchange in 2023 has been characterised by various factors, including market trends, economic conditions, and individual company performances,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Dlamini highlighted that the performance was often measured through key indicators such as stock indices, trading volumes, and price movements of listed securities. \u201cIt is important to note that while the overall stock performance may have been strong, individual companies\u2019 performances within the exchange may vary,\u201d said Dlamini.<\/p>\n

She added that some companies may have experienced exceptional growth and profitability, contributing significantly to the overall positive sentiment surrounding the exchange.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of the best performing share prices since January to November 2023, Inala Capital share price increased by 7.14 per cent, followed by Nedbank Eswatini Limited by 6.23 per cent, then Greystone Partners Limited by 5.94 per cent, and at last we have Swazi Empowerment Limited (SEL) by 2.7 per cent,\u201d she said<\/p>\n

In regard to dividends declared this year, Dlamini said SBC Limited declared an interim dividend of E30 million which comprised of 31 cents per share, to ordinary shareholders.<\/p>\n

\u201cSwazi Empowerment Limited declared (SEL) an interim dividend of E16.28 million, comprising 88 cents per share,\u201d said Dlamini.<\/p>\n

She stated that Swaziland Property Investments Limited declared distribution number 50 in respect of the income distribution during the period of July 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 amounting to E4 million, which comprised of 17.22 cents per share.<\/p>\n

\u201cNedbank Eswatini Limited declared a final dividend of 406 cents per share, in the currency of Eswatini, totalling E100 million for the financial year ended 31 December 2022,\u201d said Dlamini.<\/p>\n

She said SEL declared an interim dividend of E 24 05 million.<\/p>\n

She said it comprised of 130 cents per share while Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation declared a final dividend (dividend 62) of 51.9 cents per share in the currency of Eswatini for the year ended March 31, 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cRoyal Eswatini Sugar Corporation declared an interim dividend (dividend 63) of 82.7 cents per share in the currency of Eswatini for the year ending March 31, 2024,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

SBC Limited, on the other hand, declared a cash dividend of E20 million which comprised of E0.21 per share.<\/p>\n

Dlamini added that the local equity market\u2019s capitalisation was at<\/p>\n

E 4.6 billion at the end of November, this year. She said it reflected a 6.99 per cent gain when compared to the same period last year, which recorded E4.3 billion. \u201cThe increase in the market capitalisation can be attributed to an increase in share prices,\u201d she said.Dlamini further highlighted that another factor that increased the market capitilisation was the new listing of the Nkonyeni Pre- Cast Limited earlier in the same month.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ESE All-Share Index was at 473.27 at the end of November,\u201d she said. Dlamini said that reflected a 2.86 per cent increase from 460.11 recorded during the same period last year.The increase on a yearly basis was due to share price increases from Nedbank, Inala Greystoine, Swazi Empowerment Limited and Nkonyeni Pre-cast Limited.<\/p>\n

89.42 % decrease in the Value traded<\/p>\n

The Eswatini Stock Exchange (ESE) observed an 89.42 per cent decline in value traded from January to November this year when compared to the same period last year.<\/p>\n

According ESE Head Joyce Dlamini, the calue traded for 2023 was E1.79 milllion from E16. 9 million recorded the in 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cYear-on-year, there was 100 per cent increase in value traded from E0 in Novermber 2022 to the current valuye traded of E89 720 in November 2023. She said the number of trades and value would surely increase going forward due to the full automatated trading environment, njew companies listed, new market participants such as stock brokers that facilitate the trading of shares on the ESE as well as the dematerialisation of share certificates which would reduce the hustle of trading.<\/p>\n
