It is imperative that we unite and confront what has become a pervasive issue. Identifying the root cause of the problem and promptly addressing it is of utmost importance and urgency.<\/p>\n

Suppressed emotions, societal expectations <\/b><\/p>\n

Men often feel compelled to conceal their emotions in order to avoid appearing weak in the eyes of society. The emaSwati saying \u2018indvodza ayikhali\u2019 (a man does not cry) reinforces this notion, leading men to internalise their frustrations and resort to physical expressions. Unlike women, who are encouraged to articulate their concerns, men are conditioned to prioritise their dignity, reacting forcefully when it is compromised. Understanding each other\u2019s nature is crucial, and both men and women should be able to recognise and respect each other\u2019s humanity.<\/p>\n

Healthy relationships and mental health<\/b><\/p>\n

It is crucial to recognise and act upon warning signs in relationships, and this applies to individuals of all genders. Mutual respect and acknowledging each other\u2019s humanity are central to healthy relationships. While there is no justification for GBV, it is essential to address the underlying causes of this violence. Educating men about the importance of prioritising their mental health is paramount. It is time to shift the focus to men\u2019s mental well-being and dispel the misconception that only women are susceptible to abuse.<\/p>\n

Equality in addressing GBV<\/b><\/p>\n

We must acknowledge and address the abuse experienced by men at the hands of their partners. By striving for equality in addressing the issue, we can work towards ending GBV. It is crucial to address both sides of the issue comprehensively, as tackling a single aspect will not lead to a holistic solution.<\/p>\n
