This were the words of Under Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Macanjana Motsa when addressing attendees of the cybersecurity capacity building workshop for law enforcement officers.<\/p>\n

The US was representing PS Phesheya Dube.<\/p>\n

Motsa highlighted the importance of a resilient and well-informed response to cyber threats.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe workshops we are commencing today aim to equip our dedicated professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complexities of cybersecurity effectively,\u201d said Motsa.<\/p>\n

She further emphasized the urgent need to improve cybersecurity in Eswatini to ensure the safe use of the Internet by all emaSwati. She stated the crucial role of securing the nation\u2019s digital landscape.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Tanya De Souza Butler, who spoke on behalf of Chief Executive of the Eswatini Communications Commission, said cybercrime needed immediate attention.<\/p>\n

\u201cCybercrime is a scourge that needs to be uprooted as a matter of urgency. The nation is depending on you as the first foot soldiers against such crime,\u201d said Tanya.<\/p>\n

Ann Ritah Ssemboga, A Program Officer at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), explained ITU\u2019s role in cybersecurity.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur role right now is to ensure that we connect everyone wherever you are. We want to make sure that we have you connected and that means giving you secure connectivity and ensuring it is affordable,\u201d Ssemboga stated.<\/p>\n
