Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Royal Eswatini Police Services will engage in a home-to-home investigation during the festive season to monitor crime.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was disclosed by Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintended Phindile Vilakati this morning. She said this exercise aims to reduce crime during the holidays.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmaswati tend to party and drink a lot of intoxicating liquids during the festive season, and in the past years a lot of murder, rape and Gender-based Violence cases are reported during this season and they are a result of being intoxicated,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She continued to state that their job was to monitor that it does not reach the stage of what is mentioned above. EPN also gathered that police officers will also be dealing with those contributing to noise pollution with their radios and also close down noisy liquor outlets.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were permitted to take whatever is the cause of havoc, if it is the radio we will be seizing it. We will also be dealing with those selling alcohol or anything without the required licence to do so, the goods will be seized as well the fridge if it is alcohol,\u201d said Vilakati.<\/p>\n

Vilakati later urged Emaswati to not drive their cars or any car when they feel intoxicated to avoid road accidents.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose who will be drinking this season should have taxi numbers saved on their phone or at least have a sober relative or spouse that can drive you home,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
