These were the words of former national team Sihlangu and Kaizer Chiefs Legend Absalom \u2018Scara\u2019 Thindwa. This was during the sports equipment distribution for schools that excelled in the 2023 KFC Scara Thindwa Soccer Foundation (STSF). The event was held at the Matsapha Link and was graced by the presence of KFC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nigel England, Thindwa, Eswatini Schools Sports Association (ESSA) President Zakhele Myeni as well as schools representatives.<\/p>\n

The legend said they were monitoring the progress of one of the STSF products in Royal Leopard attacking midfielder Lungelo Simelane, whom they took to South Africa\u2019s Supersports United development, after he excelled in the games some years back. \u201cI was happy to get an invite from Lungelo while he was at SuperSport and I was impressed by his progress. I must say that we are currently in search of an SA team for him,\u201d Thindwa said.<\/p>\n

The former Bulembu Young Aces player also revealed that they were working on establishing a soccer academy in the country in partnership with their sponsor.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Leopard Public Relations Officer (CEO) Frank Hurube said the player grew up under their development structures and was then spotted by Thindwa, who took him to South Africa. \u201cHe played for SupersSport juniors, but had some challenges when he was on the verge of joining the senior team so we had to bring him back into the country,\u201d Hurube said. The seasoned football administrator revealed that the DStv Premiership side constantly checked on Simelane\u2019s progress. \u201cWe are really proud of him and he was a doing well,\u201d he said. He further said the player\u2019s progress was disturbed by an injury, but was now back in full training and fighting for his place in the starting 11.<\/p>\n
