Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>FESBC has reported the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation (RESCorp) to Eswatini Competition Commission for alleged unfair competition to other businesses.<\/b><\/p>\n

As such, the Federation of Eswatini Business Community (FESBC) wants the Eswatini Competition Commission (ESCC) to investigate RESCorp. The federation reported RESCorp to the commission by filing a written complaint, which is dated December 27, 2023.<\/p>\n

Through the letter, which was signed by FESBC President Henry Tum du Pont and addressed to the commission\u2019s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Muzi Dlamini, the federation said it had been instructed by its members to request the commission to urgently conduct an investigation on the sugar industry\u2019s alleged anti-competitiveness.<\/p>\n

Anti-competitiveness<\/b><\/p>\n

It said the alleged anti-competitiveness was purportedly posed by RESCorp to local businesses. The federation made a litany of allegations against the sugar company, relating to contractors, benefits to the community and payment of growers. The exact nature of the allegations will not be repeated as they cannot be proven at this point.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the federation said, through the letter of complaint, they also officially informed the commission that an attempt to engage RESCorp was made, but was allegedly declined in an official email from one of the prominent offices of the corporation.<\/p>\n

This, it said, was to ensure that no time was wasted by false information from RESCorp to allege that they were not engaged by FESBC prior to reporting these complaints. Therefore, it said it would appreciate an official response from the office of the ESCC, to ensure that there was clear sense of direction on the matters raised above to the sustainable development of the business community in the country.<\/p>\n
