Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>A total of 22 children from Ezulwini community have been trained on Tangyuan-making.<\/b><\/p>\n

Tangyuan is a traditional Taiwanese delicacy made from glutinous rice.<\/p>\n

The Tangyuan-making event was conducted by the Taiwan ICDF Technical Mission, where seven young assistant technicians equipped the youngsters on how to make this delicacy.<\/p>\n

One of the technicians, Nash Yenkai said the objective of the training was to foster cultural exchange. The training was held at the Eswatini Cooperatives Development College (ECODEC) yesterday.<\/p>\n

He said the event was inspired by the close timing of the traditional Taiwanese festival of winter solstice and Christmas.<\/p>\n

He said they selected ECODEC as it was part of a community development consensus initiative.<\/p>\n

Yenkai said the young technicians believed servicing overseas should involve more than just a brief stay. He said their wish was not only to dedicate their professional knowledge of specialisations, but to also foster cultural exchanges with local residents.<\/p>\n

He said the event was filled with a spirit of unity and joy and further provided an opportunity for the children to learn and express gratitude.<\/p>\n

Beyond the cultural exchange, he said the event helped establish deep friendships.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe making of Tangyuan carries a deep significance, symbolising the gathering of family and friends.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach Tangyuan formed not only represented a year of growth but also gratitude for the assistance received throughout the year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In addition to learning how to verbally express gratitude, the assistant technicians encouraged the children to illustrate their gratitude through drawings or words on cards, allowing them to convey appreciation to those they wished to thank.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the children, Andile Dlamini said the event taught them how to express gratitude to those around them.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough these cultural exchange activities, friendships were created between Eswatini and Taiwan. Having such events in future will continue to strengthen the friendship between the two nations,\u201d Dlamini said.<\/p>\n
