Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Prime Minister, Russell Dlamini, has underscored the profound cultural significance of the sacred Incwala ceremony, emphasising its role as a cornerstone of Emaswati’s identity.<\/b><\/p>\n

Taking to his social media platforms, he echoed sentiments expressed by thousands of Emaswati and global well-wishers, following his participation alongside Their Majesties and multitudes from within and beyond Eswatini’s borders in honouring the nation’s vibrant cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

Expressing deep honour and humility in attending this revered event, the PM highlighted its pivotal role in preserving the country’s rich cultural legacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am deeply honoured to have joined Their Majesties for the main day of the iconic Incwala ceremony,\u201d remarked the PM, emphasising how the event underscores the enduring richness and significance of Eswatini’s treasured cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

Attending the ceremony for the first time since assuming office, the premier passionately stressed the importance of cherishing and upholding Eswatini’s cultural heritage, portraying the ceremony as an embodiment of the nation’s identity, values, history, and unity.<\/p>\n

“It is not merely a cultural event but a manifestation of our unity and resilience as a people,” he added, highlighting the ceremony’s symbolic representation of unity, renewal, and purification focused on the kingship.<\/p>\n

The PM’s comments follow a call by Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Jane Mkhonta-Simelane, urging tourist attraction spots to leverage cultural events like Incwala, Buganu, and Umhlanga.<\/p>\n

“Tourists are intrigued by our way of life, so let us make it a point to benefit from it,” stated the minister, also encouraging artisans not to overlook their craft.<\/p>\n

“These skills can significantly impact livelihoods if properly honed,” she emphasised. The Incwala, which commenced about a month ago, involved His Majesty’s movement with the Little Incwala to various royal residences like Mbangweni, Ngabezweni, and Buhleni, culminating in the commissioning of Ingaja to Ngabezweni Royal Residence to prepare for the sacred Lusekwane shrub cutting.<\/p>\n

These locations represent integral stages of the ceremonial journey, signifying the broader significance and reach of this cherished tradition.<\/p>\n
