In celebration of home-grown talent, Eswatini\u2019s crossover events took a memorable stride by prioritising local artists, offering them a platform to showcase their artistry and connect with audiences in a meaningful way. The emphasis on local talent has brought about enthusiastic support from patrons all over the kingdom. This is a noticeable shift because in previous years, events promoters during the festive season brought in the biggest international acts to draw crowds. Places like Solani\u2019s Shisanyama and Mega Lounge were known for bringing top South African \u2018guns\u2019 from the likes of Cassper Nyovest, Oscar Mbo, Kabza de Small and many more. It is a positive change that artists too applauded.<\/p>\n

Popular hangout spots that strictly had local artists in their line-up included Solani\u2019s Shisanyama, Mega Lounge and Mdzimba View, just to name a few. The performing artists were DJ Bloss, The Bishops, Supa CDQ, AyaCity, President and Zee DJ, among many more. Most of the promoters from these establishments mentioned how it was time for the spotlight to be shown on local artists. They emphasis on the need to look at growing and nurturing what the kingdom had to offer and how that was a very direct approach to improving the local industry. One artist applauded local promoters, giving them a thumbs up for the positive change. \u201cIt was a great experience and it showed how much talent local artists have. I think besides the crossover events, emaSwati should have faith in locals because even if we have an international act, it\u2019s always the locals who make the entire show fun and alive. I would also love to send a shout-out to all the promoters who believe in locals,\u201d said Sgitha Wama 2000 who is a popular DJ in the kingdom.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the impact of prioritising local artist,s has been felt across various genres, with statistics indicating a 65 per cent increase in attendance at events featuring predominantly Eswatini-based performers. This surge in audience engagement underscores the palpable enthusiasm and support for local talent, signalling a compelling shift in the preferences of event goers towards embracing the rich tapestry of artistic expression within Eswatini.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the economic impact of promoting local artists has been striking, with a notable 45 per cent increase in revenue generated from ticket sales and merchandise at crossover events that prominently featured Eswatini-based performers. This surge in financial support not only bolsters the livelihoods of local artists, but also contributes to the overall growth and sustainability of the creative industry within the nation. The decision to prioritise local artists at crossover events has also reverberated positively within the community, fostering a sense of pride and unity as audiences rally behind their local talent. The inclusive and celebratory atmosphere at these events has been instrumental in nurturing a vibrant ecosystem, where artists and audiences alike can connect, celebrate and champion the rich cultural heritage of Eswatini.<\/p>\n
