Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>SwaziBet (Pty) Ltd (eBet) Director and Co-owner yesterday survived an alleged attempt into her life.<\/b><\/p>\n

Nonjabuliso Ntombi Maziya (nee Mdziniso) who is embattled in a fierce court battle over the company\u2019s (SwaziBet or eBet) ownership and gaming licence was yesterday found together with her son at the Mbabane main police station in a state of shock.<\/p>\n

She said she had come to report the alleged botched assassination incident to the police.<\/p>\n

When narrating, she said she left her attorney\u2019s office and was driving along Pine Valley at around 12 noon her when the vehicle they were travelling in which, was driven by her son, was suddenly hit by an unknown object on the passenger\u2019s seat where she was seated.<\/p>\n

Maziya said she did not see what hit the windscreen nor could she be certain how many times. However, she said she heard a loud sound as if it was a cracking firework.<\/p>\n

The vehicle\u2019s windscreen was partly shattered. It looked like it was hit two times, but there was no hole on it to suggest that the object permeated through.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just heard a big bang like fireworks or bullet. My son did not stop but continued to drive. Luckily we were able to stop a few metres away to assess what had happened. There was no one around, but we managed to go into a Shabangu homestead and raised an alarm which is where we told them of what happened.<\/p>\n

They advised us to return back to the city and report to the police,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Maziya said it happened suddenly and they could not say what happened.<\/p>\n

She said she was also involved in an estate matter that was about to be winded up by the Master of the High Court.<\/p>\n

The estate included EBet adding that she suspected that she was being targeted because of the company;<\/p>\n

The Master of the High Court is said to have appointed Nonjabuliso as the Executor of Mduduzi Cyprian Maziya\u2019s estate. Nonjabuliso, upon taking over the company, removed Ioannis Calivitis and Willem Delport, who were said to be directors and\/or shareholders.<\/p>\n

The matter went to the High Court, but was withdrawn. It was pending at the Gaming Board before an appeal was lodged to the minister of tourism and environmental affairs during the tenure of Moses Vilakati.<\/p>\n

After Mduduzi\u2019s death the company was managed by one of his children, Mxolisi Maziya, who however, is now also late.<\/p>\n

The Maziya family represented by Sibusiso Shongwe had challenged her status as Mduduzi\u2019s wife while Nonjabuliso had enlisted the services of Mlungisi Khumalo.<\/p>\n

The Gaming Board is said to have given the trading licence to Nonjabuliso on May 5, which was not well received by the Maziya family.<\/p>\n

Invoking the Gaming Control Act of 2022, the appeal to the minister of tourism and environmental affairs was lodged on July 3, 2023.<\/p>\n

Nonjabuliso said there was unreasonable delay for the appeal and she was against it.<\/p>\n

In her heads of argument, Nonjabuliso submitted that the appeal could not be heard because it had been filed out of time. The appellants were Sibusiso B. Shongwe and Associates, Ioannis Calivitis, Willem Joseph Delport, and the Maziya family.<\/p>\n

The eBet matter is currently within the office of the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Mkhonta.<\/p>\n

There is a ruling which pronounced that Nonjabuliso should co-own the licence with her step daughter Tamama Maziya.<\/p>\n

Chief Police Information and Communications Officer in the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) Phindile Vilakati confirmed that the matter was reported at the Mbabane police station.<\/p>\n

Vilakati said the police were awaiting the report of experts who were making investigations concerning the nature of the object that hit the vehicle\u2019s windscreen.<\/p>\n
