Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>With parents are still worried about getting money for their children for schools, those whose children will sit for external examinations have more to worry about.<\/b><\/p>\n

Their added worry is that fees for the Junior Certificate (JC) examination have increased by 27 per cent, while Eswatini Primary certificate fees remain unchanged.<\/p>\n

According to information from the Examination Council of Eswatini for one subject, pupils would now have to pay E 236 in JC, which consists of E100 candidate fee and E136 subject fee.<\/p>\n

This shows an increase of 27 per cent from last year\u2019s E185.<\/p>\n

For each subject, pupils will pay an extra E136, which means they will write eight subjects, they would each have to pay E1 188.<\/p>\n

The deadline for payment is April 8.<\/p>\n

According to the ECESWA fee schedule, the first stage of late payment would be charged an extra E250, which would be between April 8 and May 3 and for the last stage, it would be E300.<\/p>\n

Fees<\/p>\n

This will be for fees paid between May 6 and May 31. The examinations will be held in October or November.<\/p>\n

For EPC, the money is E60 candidate fee and E100 subject fee, which means for one subject, a pupil will pay E160. For nine subjects, they will have to pay E960.<\/p>\n

The deadline for payment is May 10 and there will be a late entry fee of E200 for those who pay between May 13 and 31.<\/p>\n

When the Minister of Education and Training, Owen Nxumalo, released the JC results last month, he said a total of 19 079 candidates registered for the JC examination in 2023 whereas in 2022 there were 20 206 entries.<\/p>\n

The minister explained that this indicated a 5.58 per cent decline in candidature in 2023 when compared with 2022.<\/p>\n
