Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>His Majesty King Mswati III yesterday said Incwala ceremony was made in heaven.<\/b><\/p>\n

Dispersing the regiment (libutfo) yesterday, Ingwenyama said it was not a coincidence that Incwala ushered emaSwati to the new year. The main Incwala was observed on December 30, 2023 and the burning of the log happened on January 1, 2024. The burning of the log signifies the end of the old year and the beginning of a new year. It also marks the beginning of the weeding of the royal fields. This time, the burning of the log happened exactly on New Year.<\/p>\n

His Majesty the King said the burning of the log on New Year was not just a coincidence, as some people might assume, but the was designed in heaven.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Russell Dlamini, Cabinet ministers, royalty, chiefs, dignitaries and hundreds of people attended yesterday\u2019s event, which marked the end of the weeding of the royal fields and beginning of State duties for the 2024 calendar year. Religious leaders were also present. The King said God made humans in all their diversity, according each of them cultural values, with emaSwati deciding to stick to Incwala.<\/p>\n

He said emaSwati found the sacred ceremony being practised, as it was discovered by the nation\u2019s forefathers, imploring the current generation to keep it for the next one. The King thanked God and the ancestors for ensuring that this year\u2019s Incwala was a success. He also applauded the women regiment for participating in the ceremony, alongside the male youths. He assured them that they would reap blessings for participating in these events. Ingwenyama advised emaSwati to know the significance of Incwala and when they could sing a certain song. He said each and every song had its meaning and time for observance.<\/p>\n

The King said some songs were meant to be sung on that particular day only. He warned against singing special Incwala songs on any day of the year, saying such practise was wrong and against the culture of the Eswatini people. He said Incwala songs were different from general traditional songs, which could be sung anytime or on any day of the year. The King said Incwala songs were not composed for playing. \u201cSuch songs were not composed for joking or playing,\u201d the King warned. He ordered senior warriors to teach others on the songs. Ingwenyama mentioned that Incwala also signified farming that culminated in a bumper harvest.<\/p>\n

Ceremony<\/b><\/p>\n

He declared 2024 as a year of bumper harvest. He said the ceremony was observed during rainy days, an indication that Eswatini would have plenty food this year. He said the rains also demonstrated the food security the country would have and dependence on other nations should be a thing of the past.<\/p>\n

His Majesty said there was no justification for hunger when God had given the country abundant rain. \u201cWe will not even pay for this water. It\u2019s free from heaven,\u201d the King said. The King urged people to share successes and possessions. He said the country would develop when emaSwati take care of each other\u2019s needs.\u201cDon\u2019t eat alone, but share with others,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that 2024 was not a year of problems, but solutions. He said the country needed social, economic, health and political solutions to develop the nation. The head of State said the nation\u2019s agility in conquering COVID-19 was a sign that there was no problem emaSwati could not solve.<\/p>\n

He called upon emaSwati to support each other with integrity and truth. He said lies would not help the country.<\/p>\n

He said the nation was known for holding firm in respect and implored emaSwati to continue with virtue.<\/p>\n
